The Borough of Ellwood City offers garbage, yard waste, and recycling services to its residents.

Resident may place garbage at curbside for weekly pick-up on designated day of the week. Garbage must be in designated collection containers provided by the hauler or yellow garbage bags for regular trash pick-up. Collections will be one (1) day late for those scheduled on or after a holiday. If the holiday falls on a weekend, pick-up will not be affected.

CURB SERVICE

Weekly collection of pre-purchased yellow garbage bags, waste container, every other week recycling, and yard waste is per individual residential unit. Place your solid waste and recyclables at the curb after 7 p.m. the night before your scheduled collection day.

WASTE COLLECTION SERVICE

Residents may choose a 45 gallon or 96 gallon waste container by calling the Borough Electric office and stating their choice.  Fees for container collection will be charged to your electric bill monthly.

Residents may also choose to utilize Yellow waste bags for their trash.  Yellow Bags may be purchased at Giant Eagle on Route 288, B & B Express on Lawrence Avenue, and The Store Food Mart at 100 Line Avenue. Residents may place as many yellow bags at the curb as necessary to dispose of all of their trash.

Blue recycling bins are available for purchase for $63.00 (flat rate) and can be purchased at the borough utility office or by calling 724-758-5576. Recycling is collected every other week throughout the calendar year.

If your scheduled collection date falls BEFORE a weekday holiday, there will be no change in your pick up. YARD WASTE PICK UP

Green borough yard waste bins are also available for residents to dispose of their simple yard waste. Yard waste bins are available for purchase for $62.00 and can be purchased at the borough utility office or by calling 724-758-5576. Yard waste bins are collected on specified weeks throughout the calendar years. Dates are also provided on borough utility bills.

If a resident has extra yard waste that does not fit into a container, it is recommended that they bundle and tie branches together. The branch bundles can be no longer than 4 ft. and should be placed next to the container. For all other extra yard waste, residents may place these items in the brown biodegradable bags that may be purchased at most hardware stores. Please do not place the items in plastic bags as the waste dump sites for yard waste materials will not accept these items.

LARGE TRASH/ITEM DISPOSAL

The Borough of Ellwood City also provides service to help disposing of large trash/items. Purchase a sticker for the appropriate item at the Borough Electric Office, place the sticker on the item to be recycled, put the item out for pickup on your normal refuse pick-up day — the refuse hauler will pick the item up!
