In August of 2014 the Borough of Ellwood City invited Penn Dot representatives to discuss concerns regarding state road conditions in the Borough. Recently, Penn Dot confirmed that they would be milling a 4 ft. wide swath along each side of Lawrence Avenue from 4th to 8th Street.
The Borough Council addressed these concerns with the Penn Dot representatives in response to the concerns of local businesses regarding measures to address water flow and drainage on Lawrence Avenue. Recently, the Borough, in response to Penn Dot recommendations relocated some catch basins identified by Penn Dot on Lawrence Avenue in an effort to better accommodate drainage.
In response to the Borough meeting, PennDot will begin milling the area on Lawrence Avenue from 4th to 8Th streets on Tuesday, July 14th, 2015. Beginning at 8:00Am to 4:00PM a 4 ft. swath will be milled starting at 4th St. on the North side and continuing to 8th St.
Thereafter, the South side will be addressed starting at 8th St. and continuing to 4th St. The Ellwood City Police will post the area and there will be no parking on the North side in the morning and the South side in the afternoon.
Penn Dot anticipates, weather permitting the milling project to be completed by Tuesday, July 14th .
